Dhoomapanam (Herbal Smoke Inhalation Therapy)
Traditional medicated herbal smoke inhalation, given only by trained practitioners.

Dhoomapanam is a classical Ayurvedic procedure in which the smoke of specific medicated herbs is inhaled in a controlled way, traditionally through a dedicated pipe. It is described in Ayurvedic texts as a therapy for heaviness in the head, congestion and excess mucus, and is usually performed after nasal or head treatments.
Because it involves inhalation, Trayi offers it only through trained Ayurvedic practitioners, never as a routine caregiver task. Before any session the practitioner reviews health history and decides whether it is suitable. It is not given to anyone with asthma, breathing difficulty, heart conditions, recent bleeding or fever, and is not offered during pregnancy.
This is different from Kesha Dhoopanam, where herbal smoke is used only to dry the hair and is not inhaled.
The procedure itself is brief, done in a ventilated room with the baby elsewhere, and the practitioner monitors throughout. Where it is not suitable, we say so and suggest gentler alternatives. When a session goes ahead, it ends with rest and a cup of warm herbal tea.
